Oleksandr Burlaka - born in Kyiv (Ukraine) in 1982. Graduated from Kiev National University of Construction and Architecture in 2005 as a Master of architecture.
 
He is an architect and an artist; a member of Grupa predmetiv group, Melnychuk-Burlaka group, interdisciplinary curatorial association Hudrada, Art Workers' Self-defense Initiative. He is also working in the field of design and photography. Oleksandr lives and works in Kyiv.

Oleksandr Burlaka’s practice as an architect questions and studies the role, ideology and responsibility of architects today. Oleksandr has been contributing to Soviet Modernism 1955-1991: Unknown History published by Vienna Centre of Architecture, where he was responsible for research and collecting materials on the topic. Oleksand is one of the authors of Kyivproject, a map of Kyiv Soviet Modernist Buildings, which is also realized within SPACES project by the Ukrainian partner - CSM. At the moment he is working on documentation of architecturally significant constructions of Kiev for the city guide project.
